http://www.theinquirer.es/2011/11/08/el-cd-podria-morir-el-ano-que-viene.html

http://www.digitalconcerthall.com/en/

¡qué caloooor ... qué noche me espera!-

How Much Should You Spend on a Stereo?
http://www.mcelhearn.com/2011/08/19/how-much-should-you-spend-on-a-stereo/

I'm more interested in music than sound. People have told me that I should spend several thousand dollars for a good stereo system, and, while I appreciate good quality sound – when I added the DacMagic to my system, I was stunned by the difference – I just don't see the need to spend that much.

The RS PCB Converter for SketchUp is a simple yet powerful tool that allows designers to import IDF files into Google SketchUp.

Using this tool, engineers can combine both electronic and mechanical designs, opening the door to collaboration. Design changes can be made immediately without having to wait for concept drawings, expensive prototypes or extensive reviews. With the addition of 3D models downloaded from the RS website, there is now no barrier to true integrated design.

Bricolaje (DIY) / consuming 0W in standby
Junio 18, 2011, 22:11:32

"... the company is using a system called Eco Chip, made of a capacitor and a mechanical relay between the AC power supply and the power supply board inside the device.

When the device is in standby mode, the current is switched off completely and the capacitor provides just the power needed to leave the standby mode. When the charge in the capacitor gets too low, the mechanical relay puts the power back to charge it, which consumes 0.13W during 5 minutes, which is almost nothing.

Bricolaje (DIY) / DIY iPad Audio Desk

DIY iPad Audio Desk

So many cool experimental music apps on the iPad! But what a lousy interface. Dealing with dongles to get audio into and out of the thing is a pain.

This desk allows all jacks to be mounted on the aluminum case for easy access. Plus, jacks are upgraded from dongly 1/8" mini to standard 1/4".

http://eltamiz.com/elcedazo/2011/03/30/eso-que-llamamos-musica-a-proposito-del-sonido/

Ibasso PB-2 First Impression

Here comes the new balanced amp from Ibasso! To counter RSA's quad-mono SR-71b, Ibasso has created quite a monster portable amp in the form of the PB2. I'm sure you've all heard of it: 32 volts of swing and 2.5watts maximum output puts this portable in a desktop amplifier league.

While Windows solutions like Exact Audio Copy (EAC) have long been cited as the gold standard for audio backups, a Mac version doesn't exist. But I've come to find the abilities of the awesome, free X Lossless Decoder (XLD) on the Mac to be on par with those of EAC on the PC.

Burson HA-160 headphone amplifier

http://www.headfonia.com/burson-ha-160d-review/

Australian manufacturer Burson has done well when they introduced themselves with the Burson HA-160 headphone amplifier last year. But the trend these days is to have a good source quality alongside a great amp, and so Burson took the HA-160 amplifier back to the design room, and out come the Burson HA-160D which is basically the HA-160 amplifier with a DAC in one box. It may seem like a trivial thing to add in a DAC circuitry, considering that you can buy DIY DAC kits on ebay for little money. But not for Burson. Five power supply circuits for clean and regulated power. Two transformers makes sure that the DAC and amplifier section will get all the power they need. Burr Brown's PCM1793 D/A chip, coupled with fully discrete stages right from the DAC output section to the headphone jack generates the signal that will eventually be converted to sound waves by the headphone's drivers. And knowing that everyone plays music out of a computer these days, Burson also added a USB digital input that supports up to 24/96 resolutions.
